Jake MacNelly made quite an impression on everyone that knew him. Jake’s sharp wit and sense of humor were legendary. He loved sports and was also a creative genius. Jake MacNelly was truly one of a kind.
On October 12, 1996, Jake’s life was tragically cut short at the age of 24.
The “Jake MacNelly Classic” is an annual wiffle ball tournament that allows Jake’s friends and family to join together and celebrate his life. And, this event is done in a way that Jake would have wanted it – a wiffle ball tournament in the backyard where he grew up, with close friends & family, burgers, chips and beer. And, lots of trash talking. The winning team will take home the coveted “JMC” wrestling-style championship belt and a year’s worth of bragging rights.
The 3rd annual Jake MacNelly Classic is on Saturday, October 29, 2011. Games start at noon and all players should arrive by 11:45.
All proceeds from this event support Full Circle, Richmond’s family grief center. The Jake MacNelly Fund has been established to support Full Circle’s therapeutic arts and play programs. This year, we will also be dedicating a room at Full Circle’s Center as “The Jake MacNelly Playroom”.
To help generate even more interest and support, a unique raffle has been added. Raffle prizes include golf for 4 at The Foundry, an original Jeff MacNelly cartoon, Exxon Service Card worth up to $700, Flip HD video cameras, Dan Fouts autographed football, and Hookum games.
